Waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has provided 500 waste trucks to the newly-created Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Senior Communications officer at Zoomlion, Daniel Ohene Obeng who disclosed this on Asempa FM’s Eksoii Senon Monday said the move was part of plans to augment government’s effort in making Accra the cleanest city in Africa and subsequently ridding Ghana of filth.

“Zoomlion has provided 500 trucks to the newly created MMDAs in the country to help filth engulfed in the country. We know the MMDAs will help to rid the nation of filth,” he said.
He said the move would create additional 300 direct and about 1,000 indirect jobs in the MMDAs, a situation he describes as very laudable.
Aside from the release of vehicles, he said zoomlion will go ahead to build the capacities of waste management officers in waste collection methodology to enable them to perform their tasks well.

Touting the achievements of the waste management, Mr Ohene Obeng indicated that Accra stands out if compared to other capitals in the sub-region.
He, therefore, urged the public to stop putting up illegal structures that worsen the sanitation situation in Accra.
