Youth group urges gov’t to prioritise completion of abandoned project

The Ghana Youth Leadership Academy (GYLA) has called on the government to urgently address the issue of abandoned public infrastructure projects across the country.

During a press conference, the group, committed to empowering young leaders, highlighted the critical need for swift action to complete these projects, which have been left unfinished for years.

“We are deeply concerned about the alarming state of abandoned public infrastructure projects across Ghana,” the group stated.

Emphasizing that these uncompleted projects represent a significant waste of state resources and contribute to social and economic setbacks.

GYLA cited several examples of neglected projects, including the 12-unit classroom blocks at Lashibi and Klagon TMA Schools, the Sunyani Regional Library, and the Yendi Water Project, among others.

These projects, originally intended to enhance essential services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure, have instead become symbols of wasted opportunities and lost potential for national development.

The group also stressed the economic impact of these abandoned initiatives, noting that they represent billions of cedis that could have been used to create jobs and improve public services.

GYLA further warned that the failure to complete these projects discourages both local and foreign investment, undermining Ghana’s development goals.

The academy’s appeal serves as a rallying cry for the government to prioritize the completion of these vital projects, thereby fostering progress and ensuring a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
