You’re my junior at the bar; let’s meet in court – Atta Akyea tells A-G [Video]

Samuel Atta Akyea, lawyer for former embattled National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director Kwabena Adu Boahene, has challenged the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to meet him in court.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Atta Akyea accused Dr. Ayine of acting as both a court of law and a prosecutor to suit his own convenience.

However, as his senior at the bar, the former Abuakwa South MP expressed his willingness for both of them to establish who truly understands the law.

“The A-G presented a one-sided story, and I’m tested that every lawyer who knows the law will tell you it has not been tested. So if the Attorney General portrays himself as the repository of the law, then we should tear up the constitution,” he stated.

According to him, evidence in any case must be tested in court and not spewed out for the consumption of the general public and those anxious to see New Patriotic Party (NPP) members prosecuted.

“People are mounting pressure on him to make mistakes. He should let us meet in court; he is my junior at the bar, and he’ll meet me in court. He knows the kind of person I am,” he vowed.

He further questioned how Dr. Ayine would repair the reputational damage caused to Mr. Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, if it turns out they have been wrongly accused.

Mr. Atta Akyea’s remarks follow a press conference held by the Attorney General on March 24, 2025, where Dr. Ayine linked Adu Boahene’s arrest to an alleged $7 million fraud involving a cybersecurity contract.

However, the lawyer has described the Attorney General’s statement as “prejudicial,” arguing that it amounted to a public conviction while investigations were still ongoing.
