You will be in opposition for a long time – Majority to Minority

-

The Majority in Parliament has expressed confidence that the Minority caucus will remain in opposition for an extended period, attributing this to what they describe as the poor performance of the Akufo-Addo government.

The Minority, however, insists that the economic challenges confronting the country were inherited from the previous administration and continue to burden Ghanaians.

They also question the basis of the Majority’s criticisms, emphasizing that the current government has only been in power for two months.

During a debate on President John Mahama’s State of the Nation Address, Deputy Majority Leader Kweku Ricketts-Hagan criticized the borrowing practices of the Akufo-Addo administration, arguing that they significantly contributed to the country’s economic struggles.

“From President Nana Akufo-Addo on his state of the nation, the last one was quite laughable that we should make sure we don’t default. A president who has presided over overborrowing, who has unilaterally decided not to pay his debts from 2022, who was not paying any interest, was telling President Mahama that he should not default.

“You have found your voices early, and you have to take your time. Ghanaians have not forgotten. You will be in opposition for a very long time,” he said.
