Gomoa Central Member of Parliament (MP) Naana Eyiah has chastised Independent Candidate Kofi Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus.
The MP, who doubles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate and Deputy Interior Minister, has asked A Plus to stop “talking too much.”
According to her, A Plus’ utterances are becoming too frequent and resulting in lies that must be addressed.
The legislator was reacting to allegations by A Plus that she incited supporters to cause chaos at a festival launch and fundraising event in Gomoa Lome on Tuesday.
However, Naana Eyiah has debunked the claims, stating that they are a palpable falsehood.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the MP acknowledged that she was present at the event but was accompanied by only eight people, including the District Chief Executive (DCE), Benjamin Kojo Otoo.
“We had about 14 events to attend, so we shared them amongst ourselves. I decided to go to my hometown, Gomoa Lome. We sat down quietly and knew nothing about the chaos. I was only informed about it. So, if he [A Plus] is saying I brought my guys, it’s a big lie; the guy is lying. He is talking too much, and the only thing he is doing is insulting, attacking my personality and fashion sense, but I have never responded to him,” she stated.
The chaos began when A Plus allegedly pulled a pistol during the event.
A scuffle and heated exchange led to the injury of two people, who were rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
Reacting to the incident, A Plus acknowledged that his supporters mercilessly beat some residents, whom he claimed were the MP’s supporters incited to cause confusion.
However, the MP, who has denied any involvement, condemned the incident and urged calm among constituents, stating that such actions will not be tolerated.
She warned that if it happens again, the perpetrators will be identified and made to face the full rigors of the law.
“I don’t need any of these things he is doing. I need energy to focus on my campaign and other better things,” she said.
