You presided over ‘dumsor’ for 4 years; you can’t run away from your record – Mahama told

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) manifesto committee on economy, Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah has revisited the ‘dumsor‘ crisis Ghanaians experienced under the erstwhile John Mahama administration.

The former Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, has stated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, presided over four years of severe power outages.

This comes a few days after Mr Mahama said he inherited ‘dumsor,’ but effectively solved it before his tenure ended.

He explained there was a dwindling power generation and other challenges in the energy sector but they escalated while he was still in office.

But in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, the former New Juaben South MP stated that this is a record Mr Mahama cannot run away from, giving the adverse impact on livelihoods.

“Mahama has a record and he cannot run away from his records and we have to remind the Ghanaian people that he presided over dumsor for four years.

“Under his administration, 32 take or pay power agreements were signed that till date, the government is still facing its consequences,” he stated.

The dumsor crisis which lasted from 2012 to 2016, according to him undermined Mr Mahama’s credibility.

Dr Assibey-Yeboah has therefore called on Ghanaians to carefully evaluate Mr Mahama’s track record in choosing the next president on December 7.

He added that, voters must be critical of Mr Mahama’s promises, stressing that leadership is about tangible results, not rhetoric.
