The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has pledged that members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will remain resolute in the face of what he described as political persecution.
Speaking after the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement on Tuesday, 25 March, the Effutu MP asserted that no amount of intimidation from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would weaken the NPP.
He emphasized that the party would stand firm and reclaim power in the 2028 elections.
“You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” Afenyo-Markin declared.
The Minority Leader accused the Mahama-led government of using state institutions to harass political opponents, stressing that governance should focus on national development rather than political witch-hunting.
“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he warned.
Afenyo-Markin called on his colleagues to remain steadfast and not be deterred by what he termed “politically motivated arrests,” reaffirming the Minority’s commitment to defending democracy and holding the government accountable.
