Women have been urged to undergo regular screenings for cervical cancer and other diseases to safeguard their health.
This advice was highlighted during a free cervical cancer screening event organized by the Otumfuo Foundation and the AGA Health Foundation in Adansi and its surrounding areas at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to Adom News, Deborah Ali, a cervical cancer nurse from Sahara Development Hub said their aim is to reduce cervical cancer cases.
Research indicates that, cervical cancer is the second leading cause of early death among women, following breast cancer.
Based on this backdrop, Madam Ali said if any abnormalities are detected, patients will be referred to a hospital for further treatment.
She mentioned that, one suspected case of cervical cancer was identified and will be referred to a doctor for further evaluation.
Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the program’s organizers.
One woman encouraged young ladies to participate in such programs and to continue with regular check-ups to protect their health.
Another noted that, the free screening helped them save money they would have otherwise spent on cervical cancer checks.
One woman concluded by stressing the importance of regular health check-ups for women.
