Lack of husband’s personal hygiene has prompted a woman to file for divorce in Al Ain.
The woman has also cited the husband’s ill-treatment and his over-dependency on her as the reasons to end the relationship.Â
The woman claimed her husband did not show any interest in grooming or cleanliness, and was too dependent on her, according to a report in Al Khaleej.
On his part, the husband stated that he had been living a peaceful life with his wife and five kids, until someone spoke ill about him to his wife. It was after this that she started raising issues and inventing problems which have no basis, he pointed out.
Mohamed Suhad Ahmad, a legal advisor, was quoted as saying in the report that there is a rise in the number of divorce cases as women think that they will have a better life after separating from their husbands. He added that some in-laws don’t realise their crucial role in bringing about a truce between warring couples.
The UAE legislation provides family counselling sessions prior to taking cases to the court. Only if the dispute can’t be resolved because one of the parties is not cooperating will the situation for a divorce arise.
