Ghanaian actor and Team Lead for ImageBureau, George Quaye, has shared his significant observations about the entrepreneurial spirit of Ghanaian comedians.
In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, George highlighted the growing trend of comedians creating their own platforms and brands, rather than relying solely on established opportunities.
George emphasised the importance of collaboration over competition, stating, “some time back, I said those of us practicing theatre should not compete but collaborate.”
He applauded comedians OB Amponsah and Lekzy Decomic, who were also guests on the show, for their hard work and dedication to their craft.
“So now they are working harder, they are investing in themselves more and when the platform is not there, they create their own platforms, and now they’ve created a lot of their own platforms and their brands,” he said.
Quaye stressed the need for comedians to have their own shows.
“And if you are a comedian, and you do not have your own show, then where else are you going to express yourself?” he asked.
He praised OB Amponsah and Lekzy Decomic for showing “that hunger and desire to grow.”
The interview highlighted the growth and progress of the Ghanaian comedy scene, with comedians taking charge of their own careers and creating opportunities for themselves.
