Michael Kesse Frimpong, better known by his stage name Kesse, says he will no longer do secular songs.
The musician, who has been praised for his soothing and touching highlife voice, said his will on earth is rather to do gospel songs.
Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kesse said he has finally discovered his fate and doing secular songs wasn’t part of the deal.
He told Andy Dosty that, “I am no longer doing secular music because I have found myself, earlier, I was lost. Everyone has what they were called for and God chose me to do gospel this time,” he said.

Explaining his cause, he said he has readied himself for those who would lambast him.
He isn’t the first secular musician to convert to doing gospel songs. Musicians Lord Kenya, Ofori Amponsah, Papa Shee and Yaw Siki among others have chosen the same fate of abandoning secular lifestyle for the gospel genre.
Unfortunately, Mr Amponsah couldn’t stand the test of time and made a u-turn, explaining he did gospel songs out of frustration and depression.
With Mr Frimpong, he says there is no going back.

“God’s calling is like a lightning and until it comes, you will never understand. Why is it that when someone decides to carry Jesus’s Cross, the bash follows. I know people will bash me. If the devil knew he would kill Jesus for him to die for our sins, he wouldn’t have done that. We just have to leave everything to God,” he said.
He disclosed that God had been calling him for years, but he was only being a stubborn child.
“It is God’s calling. When the hands of the Lord is on you, no matter what you will be under his feet. My calling has been there, but I was disobeying. God speaks to us in dreams, by prophets and even friends… I decided physically and spiritually six months ago.

“I will never go back to my past life. I will not go back to slavery. Jesus should use me for what he wants,” he concluded.
He attained the limelight after winning the fourth season of TV3’s ‘Mentor.’ He competed in Season 2 of ‘Project Fame West Africa’ and finished first runner-up to Chidinma.
Mr Frimpong dropped his debut studio album dubbed ‘The Prodigy’ in 2012. It was graced by four singles: ‘The Ugly Truth’, ‘The More I Cry’, ‘Superstar’, and ‘Treat Her Royal’ featuring rapper Sarkodie.
