Stephen Atubiga, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has revealed why he is opposed to the marriage between the party’s Deputy National Organiser, Chief Biney and New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Afia Akoto.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, Mr Atubiga argued Chief Biney’s marriage to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre is dangerous and will render the party vulnerable ahead of the 2020 December polls.
“NDC’s strategy for winning 2020 elections is in the hands of the national organiser and his deputies. There is no room for love when leading the NDC as a national executive for elections, his marriage to Afia Akoto has rendered the NDC naked,” he said.
Mr Atubiga wants Chief Biney to immediately resign from his position.
“Either Chief Biney in the interest of the party resigns or the leadership of the party relieves him of his duties to protect the party,” he noted.

According to him, although Chief Biney has the right to marry whoever he pleases, his (Atubiga) problem with the marriage has to do with the position Chief Biney occupies in the NDC and the person he (Chief Biney) is now married to.
“We can’t afford to be kept in opposition, we don’t want Afia Akoto ‘stealing’ our secrets to the NPP,” he said.
He warned national party executives not to allow Chief Biney participate in any national party meetings in the run-up to the 2020 December polls.
In order to ensure Chief Biney is kept away from national party meetings, Mr Atubiga said he has positioned some grassroots party members to storm the party’s national office anytime Chief Biney attends a meeting at the party headquarters.
“We just want to make sure he is not part of any meeting,” he noted.
