The Ashanti Regional branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stopped its members from participating in the offline registration in the ongoing Limited Registration Exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to the NDC, the EC is ambushing political parties with its decision to resort to offline registration after its internet connection failed in the ongoing Limited Voters Registration Exercise.
National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Sammy Awuku has meanwhile explained that the reason for the offline registration centres is poor internet service in some areas.
According to him, it is surprising that the Ashanti Regional branch of the NDC has stopped their members from registering in the offline registration exercise.
“I find it very strange and difficult to believe that the tycoons themselves and communicators of the parties are championing it,” he stated on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.
He further debunked claims by the NDC that not all the centres have been published in the gazette for the Limited Registration Exercise.
“It’s not true, it is a propaganda and to be frank I feel their pain, if you are in opposition your opposition must be credible,” he added.
