A number of rumours have gone on for years regarding why one of Ghana’s most-loved music Duo, Lumba Brothers, broke up.
The duo comprising veteran highlife musicians Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong became a household name after their maiden album in the 80s but had to break up along the line.

Even though the break-up has been rumoured as the main reason that led to disagreements, Nana Acheampong has disclosed what really happened.
The highlife musician said after playing shows for almost a decade with Daddy Lumba in Germany, Lumba relocated to another city.
The relocation, he said, couldn’t allow Daddy Lumba to easily attend studio sessions due to the distance hence they agreed to part ways.
Speaking in an interview on Pure 95.7 FM, monitored by Adomonline.com, Nana Acheampong rubbished all the rumours maintaining that the initial plan was to embark on their solo projects temporarily but it became permanent.
“We were both strong and wanted to go solo for a while but the fans weren’t happy about it so they thought something was really the cause but we planned it.,” he said.

Nana Acheampong said the breakup might have caused more good than harm since it pushed him to work harder than when he was in the Lumba Brothers group.
“I have brought out 28 albums after that. Daddy Lumba has same or more than that. Our breakup pushed us to work hard. We never had issues. We were both good writers,” he said.
