The former Ifeanyi Ubah coach, comparing the performance of North African teams to clubs in Ghana, said the North Africans are ahead of Ghana in terms philosophy and style of play.
He believes those in the North have distinct philosophy which Ghanaian clubs don’t have.
On Asempa FM’s SportsNite show, he further explained that the difference is due to lack of adequate preparation ahead of games against teams in the North.
“For you to beat them [North Africans], you can’t just build a team and think that you can perform. If your team has not taken the right shape, you will definitely be beaten; when you go there you will struggle,” he told Worlanyo Wallace.

“It is evident that we [Ghana] don’t prepare teams well before going to North African countries; even we don’t have a distinct philosophy with regards to style of play. But, they (North Africans) believe in philosophy, they believe in themselves.
“So when they come here [Ghana] and you score them 1:0 or 2:0, they are not scared because they know they will overturn it in their backyard.
“Also, they will intimidate you with referees and you will concede a penalty. The factors are many so if you are going to play them there, you need to prepare very well,” he added.
Asante Kotoko last Sunday was beaten by North African side, Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Inter Club Competition.
The Reds won the first leg 2-0 in Kumasi two weeks ago and they needed to avoid a 3-0 defeat to stay in the competition.
