Why I resigned as Black Starlets coach – Laryea Kingston opens up

-

Former Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston, has revealed that he resigned from his position due to an “unhealthy environment.”

The ex-Ghana international stepped down after the national U-17 team failed to qualify for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team was eliminated in the semifinals of the WAFU B U-17 tournament, which took place in Accra earlier this year.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Laryea explained his reasons for leaving.

“I don’t think it’s a runaway. This is a typical example of how you should work hard and not only work hard when people are watching you. As soon as I resigned, then the emails started coming.

“The environment was not healthy for me so that is the more reason why I resigned,” he added.

Since leaving his role with Ghana’s U-17 team, Laryea Kingston has taken up a new position as head coach at RPS Academies in the United States.
