The coronavirus pandemic seems like a big black cloud, which is hovering over our heads. With more than 10,000 total cases and 300 deaths in the country, the Prime Minister today has announced the extension of the lockdown till 3 May.
Coronavirus has changed our lives completely. Right now, we all are anxious and stressed more than ever before. And it’s natural for your kids to ask multiple questions related to the situation. To put all their curiosity to rest, the World Health Organisation and 50 other organisations including United Nations Children’s Fund have come together and released a storybook for kids on COVID 19.
The title of the book is My Hero is You: How Kids Can Fight COVID-19. The book has been written and elaborated by Helen Patuck. The work is based on inputs the author received from more than 1700 children, caregivers, parents and teachers from all around the world about how they are coping with the pandemic.
The book targets the children between the age group 6-11. The book has been translated into 6 languages and currently is launched as an online product and audiobook.
The book is a project of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, a unique collaboration of United Nations agencies, national and international nongovernmental organizations and international agencies providing mental health and psychosocial support in emergency settings, states a news release by WHO.
The book through a fantasy creature Ario, explains to children how they can protect themselves and their loved ones from the virus.
The book can be downloaded from the WHO’s official website.
