Ghana is one of the top footballing nations in Africa, and they have 4 AFCON trophies to show for it, making them the third most successful nation in the competition.
Through the years, the West African giants have always produced top players who go on to succeed in Europe, from Abedi Pele who won the Champions League with Marseille to Michael Essien who won the Champions League with Chelsea.
But who are the top 5 Ghanaian players right now? Let’s look at the top 5.
1. Mohammed Kudus
This right here is Ghana’s starboy. He is one of the best dribblers and ball carriers in Europe and a true bright star. He plays for West Ham and is a player Ghanaians can always bet on to deliver. Speaking of betting, if you live in Ghana and are passionate about sports betting, a sports betting guide will definitely go a long way for you.
Anyway, Kudus is a target for a lot of top clubs in Europe so we don’t expect that he’ll be in East London for much longer.
2. Iñaki Williams
Williams was born in Bilbao and plays for Athletic Club in La Liga, but he represents the Black Stars of Ghana. He is a truly talented and versatile forward and currently sits in second for most assists in La Liga this season.
Iñaki Williams has won the Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercopa and has rubbed shoulders with some of the best players the sport has ever seen including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar Jr.
His younger brother is also a very talented player of Ghanaian origin, but since he was born in Spain and represents Spain, we’ll leave him out of this list.
3. Kamaldeen Sulemana
Now, this guy right here is one for the future. He currently plays for Southampton in the English Premier League and he is one of the most explosive players and best dribblers in the league.
He was out for a couple months due to injury, but the moment he returned, he quickly got back to showing his quality.
Sulemana is just 23 years old and he has a very promising future ahead of him.
4. Mohammed Salisu
This is the first defender on this list. Salisu, who plays as a center-back for AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 is another top player from Ghana. He is only 25 years old, but he has already played in 3 of the top 5 leagues in Europe – La Liga, the Premier League, and now the Ligue 1.
He was part of the AS Monaco team that beat Barcelona in the Champions League this season and ultimately helped the club secure a spot in the knockout rounds of the tournament.
5. Tariq Lamptey
Born in England, Tariq Lamptey decided to represent the Ghana national team in 2022. He is a product of the Chelsea academy and currently plays for Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League.
Despite his diminutive stature, Lamptey is one of the best full backs in the league. He is a pretty solid defender and his pace gives him a huge advantage going forward.
