Three residents of Ntronan in the Abirem North district have been remanded in prison custody by the New Abirem police for reporting a chief who was allegedly engaging in illegal mining inside his house.
The DCE of Abirem North, Raymond Nana Damptey who disclosed this to Adom News said the three people reported the illegal activity to him on 14th February and he sent the complainants with some police officers to go and verify.
But the three complainants were rather arrested and remanded by the police after the chief reportedly accused them of assault.
Mr. Damptey said he was in the process of seeking bail for the three when the Police Commander said there is an order for the three to be sent to Nsawam prisons.
Mr Damptey also said the judge who adjudicated the case was ill-informed by the police which led him to remand the three complainants.
