On her historic first day as Ghana’s first female Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, hosted a diplomatic delegation from the Israeli government.
The delegation was led by Ambassador Roey Gilad and Sharren Haskel, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The meeting, held at Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s office, centered on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for mutual collaboration.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Vice President shared excerpts of their conversation along with photos from the meeting.
‘Over the course of our discussion, I emphasized our willingness to collaborate with Israel and align our priorities to achieve mutual benefits.
‘I highlighted the critical need for support as we work to rebuild our economy, particularly in the area of food security,’ she wrote.
The Vice President’s emphasis on food security comes at a time when Ghana is prioritizing strategies to revitalize its economy and enhance resilience in key sectors.
The Israeli delegation expressed keen interest in supporting Ghana’s efforts, pledging to facilitate further discussions on collaborative opportunities.
