Samuel Atta Akyea, lawyer for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director Kwabena Adu Boahene, has called for an end to public criticism regarding his client’s properties.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Atta Akyea argued that Adu Boahene was a businessman before his appointment in 2018 and should not be condemned without proper investigations.
“We don’t chase criminals in the media but in court. We must conduct forensic investigations to establish ownership and the sources of wealth,” he said.
He also criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of violating Adu Boahene and his wife Anita Adjei-Boateng’s rights by declaring them guilty before trial.
“What if he had 100 houses but acquired them legitimately? Why won’t we allow him to explain himself? Does God abhor rich people?” he questioned.
The former Abuakwa South MP insisted that a thorough probe should have been conducted before what he described as a “media trial.”
“Are the properties running to Tamale? Why won’t we take time to investigate? The wheels of justice grind slowly, and everyone is innocent until proven guilty,” he added.
Adu Boahene has been in the news after Dr. Ayine alleged that he diverted $7 million in public funds meant for cybersecurity infrastructure into his personal account.
He is also accused of laundering over $2 million through real estate investments in Ghana and London, allegedly owning about 27 houses.
