What I want to be remembered for if approved as Finance Minister – Ato Forson

Finance Minister-designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has pledged commitment to leave behind a strong legacy that will live in the minds of Ghanaians forever.

Dr. Ato Forson has expressed readiness to focus on inflation reduction, cedi stabilization, and job creation if his nomination is approved.

The Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP and former Deputy Finance Minister said this during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, January 13, 2025.

“I’ve said a lot in the past, and I cannot say one thing and do another. I’m committed to being consistent and delivering on my promises.

“I want to be remembered as the Finance Minister who reduced prices, stabilized the cedi, and created jobs,” he stated.

Dr. Forson outlined his plans to tackle economic challenges and swiftly bring relief to Ghanaians, promising to prioritize agricultural investment to make food cheaper and ensure food security.

“Fiscal authorities must work hand-in-hand with the central bank. We cannot leave currency stabilization to the Bank of Ghana alone,” he added.

On plans to achieve a single inflation digit of 8%, Dr. Forson vowed to end monetary financing and adopt strict fiscal consolidation measures to strengthen the economy.
