The First Minority Whip in Parliament, Habib Iddrisu, has asserted that the Minority Caucus has demonstrated significant goodwill throughout the vetting of ministerial nominees.
According to him, despite tensions and disagreements, the Caucus has remained committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Speaking on *JoyNews’ Newsfile* programme on Saturday, 1st February, Mr Iddrisu addressed the recent chaos that erupted during the Appointments Committee’s meeting on 30th January.
He maintained that the Minority has exercised patience and cooperation, even in the face of what they perceive as unfair treatment by the Majority.
“We have shown enormous good faith throughout this process. Our approach has been constructive, and we have engaged with the nominees in a manner that upholds the integrity of Parliament,” he stated.
He further criticised the Majority for what he described as a lack of consensus-building, which he believes contributed to the heated exchanges during the vetting.
Mr Iddrisu emphasised that the Minority remains committed to its oversight role and will continue to ensure that only competent and deserving individuals are approved for ministerial positions.
He urged the Majority to foster greater cooperation, stating that a more inclusive and transparent approach would help avoid future conflicts and maintain the credibility of the parliamentary vetting process.
