We’re not brothers; don’t make that mistake – Egbert Faibille fires Mustapha Gbande [Audio]

-

The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Egbert Faibille Jr., has rebuked the Deputy Director of Operations at the presidency, Mustapha Gbande, following allegations made against him.

Mr. Gbande, who also serves as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary, had accused Mr. Faibille of hoarding a state vehicle despite leaving office.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he claimed that several former appointees, including Mr. Faibille, still had their vehicles. His revelation contradicted former President Akufo-Addo’s directive for his appointees to return the vehicles by January 3, 2025.

However, Mr. Faibille vehemently dismissed the claims, stating that there was not an iota of truth in them.

He expressed shock that a Deputy Director of Operations would come on live radio to make such unverified claims.

“I am very surprised that a whole Director of Operations at the Presidency would come on a reputable radio station to spew lies. I was given a letter by Dr. Callistus Mahama on the 17th of January, revoking my appointment at about 4 p.m. when I was already winding up. The first thing I did was call the transport manager of the Commission. I made her aware that I had two vehicles—one saloon and a V8—and requested that they send drivers to come and pick them. They received it and signed, so in what capacity will Mustapha Gbande come and make such an allegation against me?”

Mr. Faibille added that he could not understand why anyone would make such allegations that could lead to public disaffection against him.

However, Mr. Gbande, who felt he had been caught, attempted to amend his statement, calling Mr. Faibille his brother.

In a sharp rebuttal, Mr. Faibille fumed, “We’re not brothers. Don’t call me your brother; we’re not from the same region. Don’t make that mistake,” effectively silencing Mustapha Gbande.

He further cautioned Mustapha to focus on his work and to respect himself while discharging his duties.
