We’ll support your presidency – GPCC assures Mahama

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has pledged its unwavering support to President-elect John Dramani Mahama as he prepares to assume office.

During a courtesy visit, GPCC President, Apostle Eric Nyamekye commended Mahama’s leadership experience and expressed confidence in his ability to steer the nation effectively.

He urged the President-elect to lead with integrity and prioritize decisions that serve the collective good of Ghanaians.

“We are here to assure you that the GPCC will continue to pray for you and support your presidency,” Apostle Nyamekye stated. “At the end of the day, we want Ghana to win, and we trust that since He has chosen you for us, God will use you mightily. We promise to remain available, visiting you when needed and engaging in discussions aimed at advancing the nation’s development.”

In response, President-elect John Mahama expressed his gratitude for the Council’s prayers and support, acknowledging the critical role faith-based organizations play in national development.

He also assured the GPCC that his administration would prioritize bold and necessary reforms, even if some decisions prove difficult.

“Though we have an overwhelming majority, it is essential to build consensus in our approach. The people of Ghana have given us a strong mandate to make the bold decisions needed to implement urgent reforms,” Mahama noted.

He further emphasized the importance of such measures, likening them to taking unpleasant but necessary medicine for the well-being of the nation.

“Some decisions might be harsh, but they will be in the national interest. Sometimes, when you are unwell, bitter medicine is required to heal,” he added.

The meeting underscored the Council’s commitment to fostering collaboration and supporting leadership efforts aimed at Ghana’s progress.
