We’ll clear consumables for renal patients stuck at Tema port soon – Korle Bu

-

The management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has promised to soon clear all consumables for renal patients, currently stuck at the port.

The assurance follows a threat by renal patients to picket the hospital on Wednesday, August 21 over the delayed clearance.

The consumables, crucial for dialysis treatments, have been stuck at the Tema Port despite a partial release of some supplies, forcing the closure of the unit for weeks.

However, the Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Salifu in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM assured that, processes are underway to resolve the issue.

“We have apologised on several occasions for this challenge and we continue to entreat them that they should exercise restraint and that we have gotten a commitment from the Ministry [of Health] that we will have this thing cleared.

“They have already endured for over two weeks now. They should let us work cooperatively as we usually do so that we can clear the container at the port and then resume normal operations,” he said.
