With a goal to promote hair care in Ghana, Weave Ghana Limited, a leading hair care brand, has officially unveiled a new packaging of its Mega Growth product and launched of new ‘Obaasima’ extensions, called ‘Obaasima 2X.’
Marketing Lead for Weave Ghana Limited, Angela Baba, explained the ‘Obaasima 2X’ is a packet of two-in-1 extension and the decision to redesign the Mega Growth packaging stemmed from the need to make the product more acceptable to its core customer base, African women.
“Every brand goes through innovation, the previous pack was very cluttered, and we had Caucasian and women on the pack. Mega Growth has become a household name in Africa, especially Ghana. We just refreshed the pack with images of an African woman flaunting her healthy hair and all that,” she explained.
She added, “For the ‘Obaasima 2X’, we are in times where things are hard, and everyone is trying to find ways to save money. ‘Obaasima’ has been on the market for decades and as a caring brand, and we thought that in these times, launching this product will help solve the problem minimal packs but being able to achieve an optimum look.”
This product launch showcased live demonstrations, expert panels, and interactive sessions that educated attendees on proper hair care routines, the importance of choosing the right products, and the science behind the formulations.
The audience was also introduced to several local hair care experts who shared their insights, offering practical advice and techniques on how to maximize the benefits of the new products showcased.
Ophelia Yeboah, a Beautician and Regional President of National Cosmeticians and Hairdressers Association, believes these new products will aid hairdressers and their clients cut down cost.
“This product will really be helpful in our work. I’ve learnt to research before working on people’s hair. We’ve learnt to use neutralizing shampoo to stop chemical reactions as well. And the Mega Growth relaxer and ‘Obaasima’ two-in-1 is a really good way our clients can cut costs,” she expressed.
