The Ablekuma North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, has vowed not to support a re-run of the election in the constituency.
Nana Akua insists that a re-run is unnecessary, as all relevant documents are intact.
“The three polling stations—we have the pink sheets. We have the original pink sheets and the scanned copies, so why the re-run?
“I don’t agree in any way. We are not going for any re-run. We are going to collate those three polling stations,” Afriyie declared in an interview with Accra-based Channel One TV.
Two months after the 2024 election, the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to officially declare the winner of the parliamentary contest for Ablekuma North.
The collation process has faced multiple delays due to incidents of violence and disagreements, preventing the EC from concluding its work.
As of now, the EC has not provided a timeline for resuming the collation process.
Officials say they are waiting for security clearance from the Ghana Police Service before proceeding, but it remains unclear when that will happen.
Meanwhile, both the NPP’s Nana Akua Afriyie and the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Ewurabena Aubynn have put up thank-you billboards, each claiming victory.
