We won’t allow Mahama to step down as NDC flagbearer – Wontumi warns [Audio]

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, says former president John Mahama will be the easiest candidate to beat in Election 2020.

Chairman Wontumi, as he is popularly known said the NPP will not allow Mahama to step down as flagbearer of the party even if he decides to back down after the 2020 elections.

He said the NPP will force the main opposition party to present Mahama as their flagbearer for the general polls because he has proven to be the weakest candidates amongst his contenders.

Mahama is now seen as the weakest candidate for NDC so why should we allow this precious opportunity to pass. We won’t allow him to step down even if he tries to step down after the 2020 general elections. He is indeed the man we want and so I urge the NDC to always bring him on,” he urged on Accra-based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr Mahama has declared his intention to contest the elections to lead the NDC in the general elections of 2020.

Ahead of his declaration, he called on the founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings at his office in Accra.

The former president is expected to begin a nationwide tour this month and is also launch his campaign soon.

But Chairman Wontumi who claims to be the one to decide for the NDC as far as elections are concerned said John Mahama was created to be a follower and not a leader.

He said Mahama will be no match for the NPP even if he wins the flagbearership race of the NDC.
