We will be a constructive opposition – Miracles Aboagye

Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has affirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will adopt a constructive and responsible stance as an opposition party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV after the NPP’s loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Aboagye assured the public that the party remains committed to democratic principles and good governance despite the challenges faced by the outgoing administration.

He emphasized that the NPP would not resort to vindictive tactics but would instead focus on engaging constructively with the government to contribute positively to the nation’s progress.

“We’re not going to be a disruptive opposition,” he stated.

Mr. Aboagye criticized the opposition strategies employed against the NPP during its tenure, particularly the delay in passing key policies such as the E-Levy, which he said contributed to economic setbacks.

However, he maintained that the NPP would avoid similar approaches, striving instead to hold the ruling party accountable in a way that strengthens governance and benefits citizens.

The party, he explained, would work within democratic boundaries to support good governance, even in the face of criticism, ensuring its role as a constructive opposition promotes national development and upholds Ghana’s democratic values.
