The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has said the Minority was not invited to the National Economic Dialogue, hence their absence.
He stated that after verifying with the leadership, he found no invitation had been extended.
The former Information Minister disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FMâs Ekosii Sen, stating he was not entirely surprised since there was no invitation for the National Education Forum either.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah had earlier stated that the Minority would attend the dialogue only if the Mahama-led government reinstates the thousands of dismissed public servants.
This statement came after President Mahama extended an invitation to the opposition during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
The President emphasized that the dialogue, scheduled for March 3 and 4, 2025, would focus on identifying structural reforms and policy priorities necessary to reset the countryâs economic trajectory.
However, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah questioned the rationale behind President John Mahama’s appeal for their participation, knowing that the Minority would not be invited.
âDuring the State of the Nation Address, the President urged us to be patriotic, but we were not even invited. There is no doubt we would have had something to contribute, but even if we had been invited, we would have decided whether or not to go.
âHad I been part of any meeting to decide on the invitation, I would have reiterated my demand for all dismissals to be revoked,â he stated.
