We wash our hands off Ablakwa; he should carry his own cross – Minority

-

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has reaffirmed his caucus’ disapproval of the nomination of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Foreign Affairs Minister.

The North Tongu MP was approved on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, by a majority decision through a voice vote after the Minority boycotted the process.

Defending their stance, the Effutu MP cited the nominee’s failure to submit relevant documents requested by the Appointments Committee concerning his earnings and assets.

“Mr Speaker, the nominee has submitted only two out of nine documents requested by the Committee. We believe that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands.

“He is on record as pursuing public servants and people in the political class, questioning their sources of income. If you are holding people’s feet to the fire, demanding transparency and accountability, it means that you yourself, when subjected to it, must oblige,” he said.

According to him, the Minority has washed their hands of Mr. Ablakwa and will have nothing to do with his approval.

“He has been questioning people’s travel, people’s birth certificates. I will not pursue him or frustrate his political progress. As a matter of principle, we are opposed to him due to his inconsistency. We, the Minority, have decided to wash our hands of his approval.

“Every sin at Airport Hills, we are not part of the sins that he has committed. All the Airport Hills sins are on you. Carry your own cross. If he repents, we will welcome him ‘Awaawaa atoo,'” he declared.
