We still have a chance to qualify for 2025 AFCON – Otto Addo insists

-

Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, is optimistic about his team’s prospects to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite recent setbacks.

The team’s chances of participating in the continent’s premier tournament are currently in jeopardy following a disappointing loss to Sudan.

After suffering a defeat to Angola and drawing with Niger in their initial Group F matches, Addo’s squad was aiming for victories against Sudan.

However, the Black Stars were unable to secure a win, settling for a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium before losing 2-0 in the return leg held in Libya.

With only two points from a possible 12, Ghana now finds itself in third place in the group.

“Surely, we as Ghana, should qualify for the AFCON. Yet, mathematically, there’s still a chance and we will do everything, which is in our hands, to hold this chance alive,” he told the Ghana FA Media.

To keep their qualification hopes intact, the Black Stars must win their next two matches in the AFCON qualifying series scheduled for November, while also relying on Sudan to drop points in their upcoming games.
