Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, believes his team should have secured the win in the first half after their narrow 1-0 victory over rivals Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors triumphed in a tense encounter at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday during Matchday 13.
Albert Amoah’s stoppage-time goal was the decisive moment, securing the much-needed victory that relieved some pressure on Ogum’s tenure.
In his post-match comments, Narteh Ogum praised his players but acknowledged they missed several scoring opportunities.
He emphasized that the game should have been wrapped up earlier, particularly in the first half.
“Absolutely, there is a lot of work to do.”It’s something we must admit as a coach. As a coach, I have to admit” he said.
“If you look at the chances we created, we shouldn’t have gotten to 90+5 (minutes) before scoring, we should have finished this game in the first half,” he added.
With the win, Kotoko climbed to 6th place in the league standings with 21 points. They will next face Dreams FC on Matchday 14 at the Tuba Astro Turf.
