We lost our focus in the second half against Accra Lions – Hearts of Oak coach

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has attributed his team’s second-half struggles to a lapse in concentration during their thrilling 3-2 victory against Accra Lions.

The Phobians initially took the lead in the 37th minute with a well-placed header from Mohammed Hussein.

However, they found themselves trailing after goals from Lucky Nwafor in the 52nd minute and Blessing Dankwa in the 73rd minute.

Despite the setback, substitute Mawuli Wayo turned the game around with two quick goals, securing a much-needed win for the team.

Speaking after the match, Ouattara acknowledged his team’s dip in focus after the halftime break.

“We lost concentration when we came from the dressing room,” the Ivorian said. “I don’t know what happened, but the important thing is that we take the three points.”

Ouattara also commended the contributions of Wayo and other substitutes for their game-changing impact.

“We couldn’t make it and Wayo came, Karikari (Martin), all these players came to change the game and take the three points, that’s the important thing.”

The victory places Hearts of Oak in 6th position on the league table with 25 points. They will face Legon Cities next in a Matchday 16 fixture at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
