We have the potential to beat Senegal – Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren is confident his team has the ability to defeat Senegal in the first of two friendlies scheduled for Saturday, April 5.

The match, which will take place in Dakar, is part of the teams’ preparations for the upcoming 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After a setback in his first match in charge against Morocco during the previous international break, the Black Queens are eager to return to winning ways.

Speaking before the game, Bjorkegren acknowledged the strength of the Senegalese side but expressed confidence in his own team’s potential to secure victory.

“They [Senegal] play physical. They have a couple of really good players. We need to be ready. Also, like I said, I think the potential in our team is good enough to win the game.”

He also outlined his expectations for the game: “I expect us to control a little bit more of the game, create more chances than we did in Morocco and hopefully score some goals.”

The Black Queens are seeking their first win since defeating Namibia in the first leg of the last round of qualifiers for the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
