The flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has stated that Ghana needs new leadership to steer the affairs of the economy and restore it to its current state.
According to him, the country is in crisis due to bad governance and when Ghanaians refuse to make changes, they are endorsing mismanagement and corruption.
“When we refuse to make changes, then we are endorsing corruption, we are endorsing mismanagement and bad leadership,” he said during the unveiling of the party’s presidential running mate at the GNAT Hall on Wednesday, September 4.
Dr Ayariga said that the country has experienced leadership from both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Despite this, he stated, Ghanaians are still calling for change due to bad leadership and the mismanagement of the economy under these governments.
“The Ghanaian people have been crying for change. Every day you keep saying you want a change but you are adamant in making a change.
“You say when you vote for the other political parties they are not going to win but I disagree with that. It is only when you make that change that the other political parties will win,” Dr Ayariga said.
He stressed that Ghanaians cannot sit and allow certain groups of people to mismanage the economy while remaining unconcerned.
“We sit aloof and say we are tired, we don’t want to see them, we don’t want to vote them but you don’t come out to vote so their die-hard members will come out and vote for them to win.
“They will get a leader that you don’t want, they will vote for a leader that you don’t want to have because you have refused to make that change,” the APC flagbearer said.
Dr Ayariga stated that most Ghanaians refuse to go to the polls and those who do often do not vote for either the NPP or NDC, calling on Ghanaians to make APC a third force.
“Make us the third force because we are the third force for you. You cannot sit down and think that the third force must come automatically, the third force can only come when you make that decision,” he added.
