Director of Finance at the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Samuel Binfoh Darkwah, has said that the company does not receive a single pesewa from the government.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Mr. Darkwah explained that, all of the company’s innovations, including salary payments and equipment upgrades, are funded through their Internally Generated Funds (IGF).
“We have never borrowed money; everything we do, we do without loans. The government has never given us a pesewa,” he stated.
He also pointed out that the company’s financial statements had been outdated for about five years. However, he clarified that the company is now up to date with its finances.
“At present, with our finances, we are on track. We have audited financial statements,” Darkwah said.
He shared impressive figures showing the company’s growth, revealing that revenue from their work has increased from 9 million to 47 million, and total assets have surged from 6.6 million to over 100 million in just a seven-year period.
“We have highly skilled workers here,” he added, proud of the company’s progress.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, David Asante, also spoke on the same show about the company’s progress.
He revealed that the company is now fully digitalized.
“We do what we call a paperless gazette, and our services are now completely paperless. We don’t fill out forms; we don’t write anything. Everything is digitized.”
Mr. Asante also disclosed the challenges the company faced when he assumed office as Managing Director.
He mentioned that parts of the company’s building had been leased to a private investor by the previous government.
However, he noted that with the support of the board of directors, he had successfully turned around the company’s fortunes.
“The NPP government has done a lot for the country and has performed very well,” Mr. Asante added.
With just four days to the election, he urged Ghanaians to vote for the NPP government to continue its work,
“The NPP government has solved a lot of the challenges, and they deserve to continue the work they have started.”
