We are not forcing anyone to help us – National Cathedral Board

-

The National Cathedral Board of Trustees has put up a spirited defence of the Fundraising Committee’s decision to charge $10,000 for a table while a chair will cost $1,000 at the fundraising dinner scheduled for 28th December 2018.

Secretary to the Board, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng said Christianity has done so much for the nation therefore it would be appropriate for members in the Christian community to back the move.

He stressed that, the board is not forcing anyone to support the fundraising since people who believe in the cause have started donating towards the move.

“The board is not going to buy tables and chairs and we are not forcing anyone to help us. We have people who believe in this cause and have started responding and donating towards the event. Our targets are mostly people who think about the benefit the nation is going to derive from the cathedral” he said on Accra based Neat FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

Mr. Kusi Boateng’s comment comes after Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams who is  Chairman of the Fundraising Committee announced that,  a table at the dinner will cost $10,000 while a chair will cost $1,000.

“… Everybody, buy a ticket for the fundraising dinner”, the Founder of Action Chapel International (ACI) announced to his congregation in Accra on Sunday, 16 December 2018, after taking his time to explain to the church, why he opted to be part of the project.

“It’s 28th of December and we are selling a chair for $1,000, a table for $10,000”, Archbishop Duncan-Williams announced.

However Mr. Kusi Boateng said looking at the crucial role Christianity had played in the nation’s history, the government funding such a national monument would not be out of place at all since it would rather motivate the Christian community in the country to work extra hard towards the development of the nation.
