We are eager on ensuring Black Stars produce good performances – GFA chief

The Head of Public Relations and Strategy at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, has expressed the GFA’s strong commitment to ensuring the Black Stars deliver positive results in their upcoming matches.
The senior national team is set to begin preparations on Monday, September 2, in Accra, ahead of their first two games in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana will face Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger on September 9 in Morocco, in their first two Group F games.
In an interview with ChannelOne Sports, Mr Mortagbe emphasized the importance of performance under pressure and the GFA’s dedication to supporting the team.
“Pressure is the name of the game. Everybody is under pressure. We (GFA) believe in the fact that there is still love, there is still energy towards our Black Stars. So for those who are administering the game and those who are in leadership positions, we cannot see the work our 12th man, the supporters are doing and just sit in a place of comfort. No way,” he said.
“We are keen to ensure, that we at our level as administrators do everything we can to support the technical team, to support the players and give to Ghanaians the quality of football that they deserve, give to Ghanaians the quality of football that our talents deserve and hopefully through that combination of factors, we should be seeing a much more improved performance at the next AFCON,” he added.
Otto Addo, the Black Stars’ head coach, will aim to build on the team’s momentum from their back-to-back victories against Angola and the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers held in June.
