The Wassa Abenabena Health Centre in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region has sent out an urgent appeal for additional staff, hospital beds, and a functional laboratory to enhance its operations.
In an interview with Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, Deputy Chief Physician Assistant in charge of the facility, Vivian Kafui Lesiaku, highlighted the challenges they face.
She noted that the health centre, built by the community, lacks essential resources, including sufficient beds and a laboratory, which hampers the proper diagnosis of ailments.
Ms. Lesiaku also emphasized the need for more healthcare workers to meet the demands of the growing population the facility serves.
She called on stakeholders to address these pressing needs to ensure better healthcare delivery.
Former Assembly Member for the Wassa Powuako Electoral Area, Anthony Kosi Alorwordor, added his voice to the call, stressing the importance of additional staff and equipment.
He also noted that the health centre is situated in a galamsey-prone area, increasing the likelihood of emergencies.
He, therefore, appealed for an ambulance to address urgent medical cases effectively.
The community hopes their plea will be heard to enable the health centre to provide adequate care to its patients.
