WAEC reveals greatest challenge during just-ended BECE

-

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Agnes Teye Cudjoe says the greatest challenge they faced during the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), was the circulation of fake questions and answers on social media which led to many malpractices at various exam centres.

A total of 517,332 candidates from 16,871 public and private basic schools nationwide, made up of 263, 616 males and 253,716 females, were expected to write this year’s exam.

According to the PRO, though the exam was successful, the circulation of the fake questions and answers raised the anxiety of some pupils who were disappointed when they got to the hall.

She told Adom News reporter Kojo Hagan that a committee would be set up to investigate the various malpractices.

She cautioned future candidates for the exam to be very careful about fake questions on social media.

She also acknowledged the work of the Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education and all who supported for a successful exam.
