The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has debunked claims that it plans to relocate its headquarters from Ghana to Nigeria.
Recent media reports suggested that the government’s indebtedness to the Council had prompted conversations about a potential relocation.
However, a report by Accra-based Citi News has clarified that the Head of Public Relations at WAEC, John Kapi, stated that no discussions have been held on the matter.
“There hasn’t been any discussion in this direction. The law that established WAEC indicates that the headquarters of WAEC will be situated here in Accra.
“Since then, there has been no change to that. So, we cannot confirm the reports, as we have not had any such discussions, and there are no plans in that regard,” he stated.
