Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency and Chairman of the Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, is currently attending the CGIAR Science Week in Nairobi, Kenya.
His participation follows an invitation from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), reflecting efforts to bridge the gap between scientific research and agricultural policy.
Dr. Jasaw is playing a central role in the development of the newly introduced CGIAR Policy Champions Network, which aims to strengthen connections between research and policymaking in agriculture and food systems.
Drawing on his expertise in sustainable food systems, he is expected to contribute significantly to discussions promoting evidence-based decision-making in both national and international agricultural policy.
During the event, Dr. Jasaw will engage with fellow policymakers from over 26 countries to identify pressing research needs in national agricultural sectors and explore collaborative strategies to enhance food security, resilience, and innovation across global food systems.
These interactions are set to inform integrated policy solutions rooted in scientific evidence.
Dr. Jasaw’s involvement highlights Ghana’s commitment to science-led agricultural development and its active participation in global conversations on food systems transformation.
As Chairman of Parliament’s Agric and Cocoa Affairs Committee, his insights are anticipated to enrich CGIAR’s initiatives aimed at reinforcing science-policy integration for sustainable agricultural outcomes.
