The Electoral Commission (EC) will meet officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on September 6, 2024, to address concerns of the NDC on the provisional voters’ register.
It followed a request by the NDC for an emergency meeting with the EC to address anomalies it said it had identified with the provisional register for the 2024 elections.
“We write to request an important emergency meeting with you and your team to discuss very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise,” the letter signed by the party’s General Secretary said.
“The discrepancies emanate from analysis of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) given to us by the Commission, and registers being exhibited at the centres,” it stated.

In a letter signed by the Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Eric Asare, it explained that the provisional register was generated from the field after the registration exercise “and like any human endeavour, it is bound to contain human errors and discrepancies as it has not been subjected to review and scrutiny.”
It said it was for this reason that the law had set aside a period to Exhibit the Provisional Register to ensure that anomalies and inaccuracies are corrected, stressing that “this has been the practice since the beginning of the Fourth Republic. This is not new.”
The letter assured that the EC’s team was working around the clock to ensure that all anomalies and issues with the Register were addressed before the Final Voters Register was produced.
“We wish to assure you that as was the case in the past, after the Exhibition Exercise, the Final Voters Register to be used for the 2024 general elections will be credible and robust,” it assured the NDC.
