Voters Register brouhaha: EC faces first legal challenge

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman constituency, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has, through his lawyer, written to the Electoral Commission (EC) to demand for information on how the EC recruited Information Technology and Procurement consultants for the compilation of a new Voters Register.   

The MP says information available to him indicates that the consultants were not recruited through proper procedures, hence his request under the Right To Information Law.

His lawyer, Martin Kpebu, in the letter to Mrs Jean Mensa, EC chairperson, gave the EC a 14-day notice to respond.

Mr Norgbey told JoyNews “I’m very much aware proper procedures were not followed in the engagement of the these consultants.”
