Voter register: Why waste time when you can go to court? NDC asked [Audio]

A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has urged the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to seek redress in court over their concerns on the voter register.

The NDC since August 2024 has been calling for a forensic audit into the voter register ahead of the 2024 election over alleged irregularities.

The NDC subsequently went on a nationwide protest to compel the EC during which a petition was formally submitted.
However, the EC has on two occasions rejected the calls, stating there is no justification for the forensic audit.
Speaking on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen, Ama Daaku stated that, the back and forth over the issue was unnecessary and time wasting.
She asserted that, the NDC may not have valid basis for its demands and may not be serious about it because, they would have headed to court by now.
“We have barely 60 days to the election and the NDC is not backing down on its request for a forensic audit which is in order but the EC has refused to do it. But if they will listen to me, they should go straight to the court.
“This back and forth with the EC will not yield any results. So if they are convinced there have strong basis, they should go to court. There are certain games you need to be vigilant when playing,” she stated.

According to her, the NPP will not waste time if they detect any anomalies in the build-up to the election and will waste no time going to court.

Meanwhile, the NDC Director of Election and IT, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has emphasised that the EC’s opposition to their demand may mean that there are more discrepancies that they are afraid may be exposed by thorough scrutiny.
