The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman, Pius Hadzide, has made a striking promise to his constituents.
He urged them to vote for him if they want their children to have the opportunity to travel to the United States of America (USA) for the 2026 World Cup.
Mr. Hadzide, who is vying for a parliamentary seat, made this commitment during a recent campaign event.
He disclosed his extensive connections and experience in the sports sector as key assets that could facilitate international opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
Mr. Hadzide’s pledge is notable given his controversial past.
In 2017, as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, he was implicated in the Australian Visa scandal, where Ghanaian nationals allegedly posed as journalists to secure visas for the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Although initially suspended pending investigation, Hadzide was later cleared of wrongdoing and reinstated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Despite this controversy, he remains a significant figure within the NPP and is now focused on his bid for Parliament.
In his campaign, Mr. Hadzide emphasized youth empowerment and international exposure, aiming to leverage his experience to provide new opportunities for the youth of Asuogyaman, especially in the realm of sports.
