The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has assured the youth of the Mahama-led administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at empowering young people and promoting sports development.

He made this commitment during the 2025 Regional Minister’s Cup held at the Volta Regional Youth Resource Centre in Adaklu.

According to Mr Gunu, the event highlights the government’s dedication to youth development, talent promotion, and sports excellence.

“This tournament is a testament to our commitment to nurturing young talents and promoting sports in the Volta Region. My administration will continue to support initiatives that empower the youth and elevate sports in the region,” he stated.

He emphasised that sports, particularly football, instil discipline and create opportunities for young talents, adding that the Volta Region is home to exceptional footballers.

Competitions like the Regional Minister’s Cup provide a platform to nurture, showcase, and elevate these talents to higher levels.

To encourage participation, Mr Gunu pledged a cash prize of GHC 3,000 to the winning team, while the first runner-up will receive GHC 2,000. He also assured that all participating teams would receive donations at the end of the tournament.

The Regional Minister expressed gratitude to the Volta Regional Football Association (RFA), organisers, sponsors, match officials, and stakeholders for their dedication to sports development in the region, commending their efforts in making the event a success.
