The Volta Regional Fire Commander (DCFO) Joy Ameyibor Ayim, has said intensified safety education has reduced fire incidents in the region.
In an interview with Adom News, DCFO Ayim indicated that the command is hopeful that beneficiaries of these fire safety campaigns will share their knowledge with family and friends.
This he noted will help expand public awareness creation and help reduce fire incidents to the barest minimum.
On the sidelines of this, he also appealed for public support to aid the work of firefighters.
DCFO Ayim noted that considering the economic activities and development springing up in the region, the service needs more logistics to beef up the existing ones.
Mr Ayim in an interview with Adom News acknowledged that, though government is doing its best, firefighters still need rescuing, cutting tools and vehicles for them to effectively execute their mandate.
He added that, they would need motorbikes and pick-ups to intensify fire education in remote areas.
“We are appealing that Multimedia Group Limited, corporate institutions, individuals and residents in the region to come to our aide because fire prevention and fire fighting is everyone’s responsibility and do not tell when it will come,” he said.
Mr. Ayim seized the opportunity to commend the Regional Fire Service mechanics for working to keep most of the fire tenders in shape.
He assured his outfit is ever ready to protect lives and properties within the region.
